jaxon story time/auntie bragging moment. 😁♥️ • a couple months ago, i took jaxon to disneyland. when we were in line for the haunted house, he kept pointing at the scary decorations (it was decorated for halloween) 🎃 and saying “scared, scared.” i was like, “are those scary?” jaxon: “yeah, afraid, Lord.” me: “afraid...Lord? what??” (lol) jaxon: “afraid, Lord.” me: “OH!!!!!! when i am afraid, i will trust in the Lord!!!” he had remembered psalm 56:3, the Bible verse i taught him (more like mentioned it to him a couple times at bed time) like months ago!!!! 😭😭😭 • fast forward to when we took jaxon trick or treating on halloween. 👻 a big kid in a bear costume was trying to be scary/loud, and jax ended up freaking out. 🐼😂 lol. we calmed him down and i kept telling him psalm 56:3, “when i am afraid, i will trust in the Lord.” he was fine after that. then on sunday, driving home from church with him, i practiced the verse with him. each time after i’d say the verse he’d respond with “bear.” i couldn’t figure it out but then it clicked. when the bear scared him we said this verse, and he surprisingly remembered! lol. 😆 • this kid is so smart, he amazes me on a daily basis! so proud to be his auntie. 😍😍😍 • oh and bonus bragging: he peed on the toilet for the first time this week!!! 🚽🎉🙌🏽😅🙏🏼

“courage is not about knowing the path. it is about taking the first step...i believe that God totally, absolutely, intentionally gives us more than we can handle, because this is when we surrender to Him and He takes over, proving Himself by doing the impossible in our lives...God has a way of using inadequate people, and sometimes He calls us to reach a little higher or to stretch a little further, even when we feel we can’t do anymore. we simply trust Him and then He gives us everything we need to do the ‘more’ that He is asking of us.” • { kisses from katie } • just finished reading this book. i highly recommend it. it’ll wreck you in the best possible way. ♥️ • @katieinuganda_ #kissesfromkatie

a great oak is nothing more than a little nut that held its ground. 🌳 • heard this quote the other day and it made me laugh. 😆 but it’s so true. we’re all kind of like that. life can be absolutely crazy sometimes. and everyone’s story looks different, with a million twists and turns, ups and downs, seasons of smooth sailing and seasons of wondering where God is in all of it. but, if we cling tightly to God, if we hold our ground in Him, our firm foundation, over time He will grow us and make us into something beautiful. it’s through our weakness that His strength can shine through. ♥️

the fear of the Lord. we spent some time in my Bible study talking about the fear of the Lord, what it is and what it isn’t. it IS having an attitude of reverence, respect, and awe for our all-powerful, all-knowing, all-loving Father. • i think a lot of the time we have a “fear of God” in the sense that we think when we do something wrong, He’ll be disappointed in us, bring harm to us, punish us. or, like me, we sometimes might fear that God is withholding or keeping good things from us. (side note: it’s crazy how much our relationships with God mirror the parent-child relationship. i love it!) • it all goes back to our view of God. if He says He is good and that He loves us and forgives us/holds nothing against us, then we need to trust His Word and not doubt. God is love. we rely upon Him alone. He is enough. • the fear of the Lord is the very opposite of the “fear” we usually think of when we hear the word, the kind of fears experienced by a person who lacks a closeness with Jesus. fear of the Lord motivates us to come to Him, not run away or hide from Him. • true fear of the Lord is believing and trusting that He is who He says He is. rest. not striving after approval. content to wonder at His beauty, holiness, and goodness. to be wowed by His great love for us. ♥️

“but i loved Jesus. and the fact that i loved Jesus was beginning to interfere with the plans i had for my life and certainly with the plans others had for me. my heart had been apprehended by a great love, a love that compelled me to live differently...Jesus wrecked my life, shattered it to pieces, and put it back together more beautifully...daily, the Jesus who wrecked my life enables me to do so much more than i ever thought possible.” { kisses from katie } • chapter one and i’m already a mess. 😭 i was sharing last week with a sweet lady from my Bible study, who i barely know, about my trip to nepal and how i really want to go back. she told me about this book- which i’d actually been wanting to read for a while/and is ironically (but no so ironically) mentioned in my favorite book, “i dont wait anymore” that i happened to be reading at the time- and tells me she’ll bring it for me to borrow. so she brought it this week and says she felt that God wanted her to give me this book...to keep! what a gift! 💕💕💕 • thank you @katieinuganda_ for sharing your story ♥️ #kissesfromkatie

a few weeks ago, i started going to a women's bible study at my church called "at His feet: discovering your true identity in Christ." i'm loving it! i feel like, in a sense, it's so easy to become a Christian/say a prayer/believe and accept what Jesus did on the cross, but still live in bondage with distorted view of God and of ourselves, not really realizing or grasping the free, full life God has for us. based on our new identity found in Him. rooted in His love for us. • as we grow in our relationships with Jesus and begin to know His love, it changes us, in the inside, giving us a new perspective, a new freedom, a new identity. i love this quote in the first chapter of the study book: • "if we are ready to put on our true selves, if we want to live in that identity every day, we have to move beyond ‘knowing’ about God's love in our heads. we have to experience that love for ourselves by allowing Jesus to reveal the truth to us, by opening our hearts and minds to receive it, and by letting it take root deeply and fill us completely." { at His feet } • i remember the first night of bible study, just hours before, i had been doing some gardening, trying to remove some roots from some pots i had planted. the roots were so intricately intertwined with the soil, it was nearly impossible to remove the roots! • the first chapter of our study book ends with this verse: “then Christ will make His home in your hearts as you trust in Him. your roots will grow down into God’s love and keep you strong. and may you have the power to understand, as all God’s people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep His love is.” { ephesians‬ ‭3:17-18‬ } (it made me think of the roots i’d been digging up earlier i had to take a photo to remember!) • that’s how God wants us to live. with His love permeating everything we are and everything we do. to be so deeply rooted in His love that it’s impossible to separate us from His love. ♥️

the Lord is my shepherd. i will always have everything i need. He gives me green pastures to lie in. He leads me by calm pools of water. He restores my strength. He leads me on right paths to show that he is good. even if i walk through a valley as dark as the grave, i will not be afraid of any danger, because You are with me. Your rod and staff comfort me. ‭‭{ psalms‬ ‭23:1-4‬ ‭} • i love this image of God being our good shepherd and us being His beloved sheep. it reveals so many things about His character and nature. david, the author of this psalm, was a shepherd himself, so he knew exactly what the relationship between a shepherd and his sheep was like: the role and responsibilities, the challenges, the joys. and he knew the needs of the sheep. • our good shepherd loves us, protects us, guides us, provides for us, gives us rest, knows us, and calls us by name. we belong to Him. • and with Him as our shepherd, we have nothing to fear. even when we walk through the dark valleys of our lives, we don't have to worry about what will happen or what our life will look like. we just need to stay close and trust in Him. ♥️

"we ask Him to help us waste nothing because we know both the good and the bad carry eternal significance...we do feel the glorious weight of how each moment is part of a greater whole, and we feel lighter because of that...each minute is golden, a chance to live in the reality of His love, a chance to worship, to spend our lives doing what we were designed to do- walk in the joy of worshipping the One who loved us first. { grace thornton, i don't wait anymore } @gracefortheroadblog #idontwaitanymore #golden
