More than 2 weeks have gone by and the de facto leader of Myanmar and Nobel prize winner Aung San Suu Kyi still hasn't released a statement or established any actions to avoid or stop the violation of human rights that the Rohingya are currently facing.
Since August 25th, thousands of Rohingya have fled their country escaping from the ethnic cleansing that the army is executing. Most of them have fled to Bangladesh, others who have settled in India are now facing the risk of deportation, which will put them in danger of torture and death.
We stand with the Rohingya and demand an immediate response from the government. Their lives should be respected.

As Tunisians try to celebrate the 7th anniversary of the revolution that overthrew the dictatorial government of Zine El Abidine Ben Ali, they’re met with new austerity measures that affect the majority of the population. Thousands of people have taken the streets to protest these new changes and the government has responded in a repressive and brutal way. Hundreds have been jailed for peacefully demonstrating. We demand the Tunisian government to respect the right to peacefully assembly and to a due process. Credits: @fmpinilla #Tunisia #HumanRights #Demonstration #Justice #Peace

#Repost @themuseumofmodernart with @get_repost ・・・ “The seven lines comprising Alfredo Jaar’s ‘He Ram’ are taken from Mahatma Gandhi’s grave, and represent Gandhi’s list of ‘Seven Social Sins.’ The artist recently wrote to me reflecting, ‘They were the perfect representation of the moral decay of our society. They were simple, direct, clear, brilliant. Needless to say, they apply today more than ever.’ Jaar has used mirrors in his work since the 1980s, and, by silkscreening these words onto the surface of a mirror, pays homage to Gandhi in a deceptively simple gesture—we are implicated as we view ourselves reading, and as we observe others viewing themselves and us.”—Lilian Tone, Assistant Curator, Department of Painting and Sculpture … Visit mo.ma/cisneros to explore more Latin American modern and contemporary works added to #MoMACollection thanks to the generosity of the Colección Patricia Phelps de Cisneros (@CPPCisneros). #MoMACisneros #CisnerosContemporary #ColeccionCisneros … Image: Alfredo Jaar (Chilean, born 1956). “He Ram.” 1991. On November, Myanmar and Bangladesh agreed that thousands of Rohingya who fled violence in the state of Rakhine must return to Myanmar within the next two years. Nevertheless, there is no proof that Myanmar will provide good and better conditions for the ethnic group, which is not recognized by the government and are considered ‘foreigners’. Rohingya must be respected by the Burmese government and treated as human rights. Credits: Jonathon Hill #Myanmar #HumanRights #Rohingya #Life

“Ceasefire” After a ceasefire that begun in 2014, 13 young man were killed in a massacre that took place in Casamance, located in the south of Senegal. Other 7 were injured. This incident prejudices the peace talks that were taking place to solve the conflict and might lead to stronger actions by government officials. We stand with Senegal in this difficult time and hope that, soon, peace will return to their land. Credits: @fmpinilla #Senegal #HumanRights #Peace #Life

Currently, there are around 21 million people in the world who have suffered from human trafficking. Children, people with disabilities and ethnic minorities have higher risks of becoming victims of this crime. We raise our voice today to stand against trafficking and exploitation. People are not objects. #HumanTraffickingAwarenessDay #HumanRights #HumanTrafficking

Through a series of tweets, the current president of the U.S. informed the world that he has a “much bigger Nuclear Button” than the leader of North Korea, Kim Jong Un, and that this button actually works. As we start a new year, threats of a nuclear conflict between the U.S. and North Korea keep on rising. We stand against any measure that will cause pain and destruction in the world. War is not a solution to the world’s problems. Credits: @fmpinilla #US #NorthKorea #HumanRights #Peace

#Repost @itsjustme_mariapapaefstathiou (@get_repost) ・・・ At the beginning of 2017 I was approached by Ethan Sean to bring a vision of his to life. The “Justice the Liberator”. He wanted to create a timeless symbol of his interpretation of the statement that women had made globally for the world to see. "Justice the Liberator" is an appropriate name and piece for girls and women to be inspired by. If you agree it would be an honour not only for Ethan Sean but also to myself in spreading the word and sharing. http://ethanseanclothing.bigcartel.com/ @ethanseanclothing Design by: It's Just Me - Maria Papaefstathiou, 2017. Egypt extended the jail time of Al Jazeera’s journalist Mahmoud Hussein, who has been detained in his home country since December 20th of 2016 for “reporting false news with the aim of creating chaos”. Even if he has suffered from ill health and broke his arm months ago, the government decided to leave him in prison for at least 45 days more. We believe that his detention and incarceration constitute a violation of freedom of speech and a way to establish censorship in the country. Hussein must be freed. Yesterday, a pipe bomb explosion was registered at Port Authority bus terminal in New York City. Even if the attack was executed at a rush hour, only a couple of people were injured and no one was killed. The attacker claimed that he was inspired by ISIS. We condemn this terror attack that meant to inflict pain and suffering to the American people. We believe that peace, equality and freedom will eventually overcome, and, until then, we will keep on protesting and fighting these hateful acts. Did you that every year $1 trillion dollars are paid in bribes across the world? Also, about $2.6 trillion dollars are stolen through corruption. Corruption can undermine social and economic development in societies. Corruption takes away money from programs that are designed to help people and disturbs the proper development of communities. Today, we take a stand against corruption. #Corruption #Government #Justice #HumanRights

A recent report made by @CNN revealed that African migrants were being sold into slave trade and human trafficking for as little as a couple hundred dollars in Libya. Even if the Libyan government has assured that they will investigate this, the International Organization for Migration (IOM) warned that “the smuggling networks are becoming stronger, more organized and better equipped”. People have the right to live a dignified and fair life. We condemn this unfair and illegal practice. Credits: @fmpinilla #Libya #HumanRights #Africa #Life
