More than 2 weeks have gone by and the de facto leader of Myanmar and Nobel prize winner Aung San Suu Kyi still hasn't released a statement or established any actions to avoid or stop the violation of human rights that the Rohingya are currently facing.
Since August 25th, thousands of Rohingya have fled their country escaping from the ethnic cleansing that the army is executing. Most of them have fled to Bangladesh, others who have settled in India are now facing the risk of deportation, which will put them in danger of torture and death.
We stand with the Rohingya and demand an immediate response from the government. Their lives should be respected.

"Welcome and Rest In Peace". Jails and detention centers in Venezuela have become places where prisoners of all kinds go to get sick and eventually die a slow and painful death. Yesterday, another prisoners died in a jail in the state of Carabobo, while Sunday Carlos Andrés García, a political prisoners from Apure, died when police officers didn't provide proper healthcare after he had a stroke at the beginning of August. Prisoners have human rights too, specially the right to live, and right to health. We reject the way prisoners are being treated in Venezuelan prisons and ask for justice. #REPORT | We denounce and reject the arbitrary detention of the Dutch independent journalist @bram_ebus. He and his chauffeur were detained by the Venezuelan National Guard in the community of Parhuaza, located in Caicara, Bolívar. According to sources, he was detained when the officers found out that he was a journalist that was investigating the environmental impact of the Arco Minero del Orinoco. Bram also covered this year's protests in Venezuela. We demand his immediate release. While we commemorate the International Day of Peace, let's remember that the only thing that war brings is death, pain, destruction and misery. We believe in a world where we can live in community as equals, where conflicts and problems can be solved peacefully and where peace is our only path. #Peace #HumanRights #Gandhi #Justice #Equality

Rohingya Muslims have been facing repression and violence from armed officials since August 25th. As many as 400,000 Rohingya have fled Myanmar since then and aerial images show many territories that were burned down by the arms. The current de facto leader and Nobel Peace Prize winner, Aung San Suu Kyi hasn't issued an appropriate and effective response. As a matter of fact, she only addressed this subject earlier this week, when she said that the incident needs to be investigated. Rohingya are seen as illegal immigrants in Myanmar even after they've lived in the territory for decades, since Burmese Buddhists believe they're Bangladeshi. But in Bangladesh, Rohingya are considered Burmese. Leaving them without a nationality or a State. Rohingya rights must be respected and an answer to this problem must be found. The Venezuelan engineer Roberto Picón was unjustly and arbitrarily imprisoned 91 days ago. His due process has been completely violated since day one: police officers arrested him without a warrant and then he was judged by a military court, which violates his right to a natural judge. We demand justice for Roberto Picón and ask for his release. #FreeRobertoPicon

Freedom of thought and expression is a fundamental human right that allows human beings to communicate and express themselves without censorship. In a world where totalitarian and demagogic regimes try to shut us down, we must always strive to defend this right. No one is going to stop us from exercising our right of thought and expression. #Expression #Thought #NoGags #HumanRights #Communication

After 122 countries belonging to the @unitednations approved a treaty that bans nuclear weapons on July 5th, the Secretary General of the organization Antonio Gueterres opened today the treaty for signing. So far, at least 50 countries hace ratified the ban and will start implementing it 90 days from now. Others, like the U.S., France and the U.K. don't support the measure, since they believe that a commitment to the Non-Proliferation Treaty is enough. We stand with the countries that have supported the treaty, since we believe that nuclear weapons endanger our world and our lives. The rate of asylum seekers who cross illegally from the U.S. to Canada has more than tripled since last year. This year, more than 11,200 people have crossed the border, when in 2016 the number only reached 2,464 people. Most of the refugees claim that they prefer crossing over to Canada since they are afraid of applying for asylum in the U.S. with the current political climate and they want to avoid being deported when their tourist visas or temporary permits expire. People who face imminent danger or persecution in their home countries have the right to apply for asylum in foreign countries. We hope that the Canadian governments starts implementing proper policies for the thousands of people who are currently entering the territory and start working on their integration into Canadian society. The councilman of Guasdualito in Apure, Carlos García, was arbitrarily detained on December 2016, while the police was conducting an illegal raid in his home, just after the regime announced that the 100 Bs. note was going to be discontinued. On the first week of August, he had a stroke while he was detained in the headquarters of the Sebin. But, violating his right to health, officers didn't allow him to be transferred to a hospital or to receive a visit from a doctor. He was transferred on August 18th to a medical facility and on September 16th he was granted a precautionary measure. Nevertheless, he was not released. Carlos died this weekend because he didn't receive proper medical care. We condemn his death and reject all the human rights violations that prejudiced the health and wellbeing of the councilman. We shall never forget him. #RIP #Venezuela #HumanRights #Justice #NeverForget

Last Friday, a 19-year-old was murdered after using a ride-hailing app in the state of Puebla, Mexico. Her death is only one of the many gender-related casualties that Mexican people usually witness. Only this year, 83 women have been killed in that same state and studies reveal that about 66% of Mexican women and children have experienced some sort of sexual abuse during their lives. When asked about the matter, the director of @aimexico claimed that violence against women is "a mixture between impunity, corruption and macho culture". We stand with Mexican citizens to say no to feminicides and to openly reject gender violence. People shouldn't become victims because of their gender or habits. No one deserves violence. The artist @lechienbinaire created a piece that depicts the current Venezuelan crisis: people fighting for fundamental rights like food and medicine, while the regime oppresses them and takes advantages of the income created by the oil industry. #Venezuela #NoMasDictadura #UnMundoSinMordaza #HumanRights #Justice #Peace - #Repost @lechienbinaire (@get_repost) ・・・ It's finally done. I finished my art. 7 for the #udhrquiltproject that states justice will not discriminate. As soon as I was accepted into the project, I knew i would create an image about the current crisis in Venezuela. I was not worried about what article I would be assigned because every human right is being violated in Venezuela and I would be able to come up with imagery for any of them. Scarcity of food and medicines, the non-separation of powers and the government moves to take hold of the last democratic/separated power -the Congress- prompted protests starting April 2017. During these protests, 150+ people died, most at the hands of the national guard and their excessive/malicious use of force. Many of them young students born during the Chavez era. They never knew democracy but they fought for it with cardboard shields and tear gas masks made of plastic soda bottles. Some of the figures in the block are inspired by actual victims. Like the violinist, who was jailed and tortured for playing the violin in the streets, accompanying protesters; or the green cross responder, a medicine student killed while volunteering to attend the wounded. Or the 17 year old that had already plans to leave the country but decided to stick around to fight for it. At the top left, hope awaits... Thank you so much @talfitzpatrick and @illuminatembroidery for this opportunity and for this initiative. Please see the amazing creations of the other artists involved at #udhrquilt #udhrquiltproject #udhrquilts In terms of the embroidery: DMC floss and some japanese thread, variety of stitches. Took me about 2 months of night work + weekends. I am actually having a hard time letting go of this, but that's what it was created for! Thanks so much for your attention and support!!

According to data revealed by @unicef, about 700 million women who are currently alive today were married as children, which according to the organization is younger than 18 years old, and there are at least 280 million girls who are at risk of becoming child brides. Child marriage can have a deep and terrible impact on children and doesn't allow them to exercise their right basic human rights like the one to choose and to decide. We join the call made by UNICEF to end or at least decrease the number of children who are affected. We say no to child marriage. Today we commemorate the International Day of Democracy, a date that was established by the @unitednations to celebrate and promote democracy. This year, the UN has established a theme that's meant to strengthen democratic institutions and to promote peace and stability. More than ever, today is a day to think about all of those countries who haven't been able to reach a democratic state and still live under oppression and fear. #Democracy #UN #HumanRights #InternationalDayofDemocracy #NeverForget

On July 7th, Julio Jesús Espinoza, Homero Acevedo and José de Jesús Chacín were arbitrarily detained in Anzoátegui, Venezuela and were later presented before a military court, which violates their right to a natural judge. Later, they were transferred to the La Pica prison, where they now live with ordinary prisoners. Their families and lawyers demand their freedom and have done everything in their power to obtain their release. Nevertheless, they haven't received an answer. From A World With No Gags, we demand their freedom and the respect of their fundamental rights. #PolicalPrisoners #LibertadParaJesusEspinoza #LibertadParaJoseJesusChacin #LibertadParaHomeroAcevedo #HumanRights

More than a week has gone by since the American government decided to end the temporary program for Dreamers, those people who entered the U.S. as illegal immigrants when they were under 16 years old. So far, there hasn't been a solution to their legal status, but the president of the U.S. has repeatedly stated that he will find a viable and beneficial solution. The latest information says that these people won't be deported and that the president will soon reach an agreement with the Democratic representatives that will provide a solution for these people. It's been a week since Hurricane Irma caused chaos, harm and destruction in the Caribbean and the state of Florida, in the U.S. As a consequence of this natural disaster, many people lost their houses, their land and even their lives. Now, it's time for governments to start responding to their citizens and to start helping, aiding and hearing their people's problems.
