INDEPENDENCE DAY 2: RESURGENCE [ 2016 ], directed by Roland Emmerich.
So, 20 years have passed, until they decide to make a sequel. The question is, who needs it after such a long time? I mean, the first film was the thing, back in the 90's. Today, the audience might not understand the whole concept, which the previous generation enjoyed so much.
Aliens return to Earth for revenge, and no metter how hard, us, the humans, tried, we weren't able to prepare for what's coming. A film is on a larger scale now, which takes this film to another level, but is it really that good? Let's see... Will Smith, for some reason, is missing in this movie, and so they just kill off his character. And that takes a huge chunk out of the film's goodness. At least Jeff Goldblum returns, and that's good. I really liked William Fichtner's character, a general-turned president, and William did a great job. Liam Hemsworth is good in his role, and so is the returning Bill Pullman. Although there were many actors I didn't like, such as the annoying kid actors and a fag-looking Travis Tope. He pisses me off so much, that I wish he would die. I fucking hate that guy. They could of picked someone better to play his role.
Now, the variety of characters impresses, but only for a minute, before it starts getting on my nerves. Too much shit to follow. Overall, the film isn't as bad, as everyone says it is, I mean, Roland Emerich is still in charge, so it's at least watchable. But the fact is, this film is so unnecessary, that you almost wish it was never made. I'd give it a 7/10 just for the hack of it. Nastalgia wins me over.
