Looking for your input on these table legs... We recently completed a square edge walnut dining table where we wanted 4 wood legs at each corner of the table. We can up with these steel plates that are permanent affixed to the leg and then get screwed on to the underside of the table. A few key features in the design include: - recessed plate in to underside of table. - offset plate on table leg so plate is not visible once attached. - two 4” steel rods welded to the plate that run into the leg and attached via PL Premium and screws. What would you guys have done differently? Or do you think this is a great solution? This cabinetmaker's shop in Colonial Williamsburg is an original-site reconstruction of one first established by Scotsman Anthony Hay in 1751. It produced all kinds of furniture for Virginia's burgeoning elite, including high style tea and China tables, and a ceremonial chair for Virginia's governor, among other things. In the 1760's, harpsichords were added to the shop's offerings- a big deal because, to that point, harpsichords largely had to be imported to the southern colonies from Britain. Today, it's open to the public as part of the Colonial Williamsburg living history museum, and I've wanted to visit there for a long time. I felt like a kid approaching a Toys-r-Us (too soon?) and probably spent over an hour hanging out and chatting with the men that worked there.
