"Hermione just stole all of our shit."
When Jay Baruchel comes to LA to visit his long time friend, Seth Rogen. Seth promises to finally get him to enjoy the "LA life." He takes him to James Franco's big party full of celebrities and drugs. But when the apocalypse disrupts some raunchy celebrity fun, and all who are pure are sent up to heaven and all who aren't are murdered off relentlessly, Jay is stuck with Seth's celebrity friends, literally barricaded and suffering to survive with their immature and quite hysterical attitudes.
This absolutely hilarious film directed by Seth Rogen himself and Evan Goldberg is pretty much what we've all been looking for in a comedy. It's raunchy, it's offensive, it's a satire, it's violent, and it's just so freaking entertaining. With all celebrities playing themselves, (and giving excellent performances too) it seems like they all just got together to hang out and thought "hey, lets make a movie!" And I mean that in the most positive way possible.
Going through satire moments when the actors don't only make fun of themselves but make fun of other celebrities and their movies, this appeals to everyone's humor. Though it is a Seth Rogen movie, so just expect a lot of weed and penis jokes. But every little sense of humor is provoked amazingly and with character that will surely bring consistent laughs throughout. The creators of "scary movie" could really learn a thing or two from Seth and the gang.
With the apocalypse giving good excuses to bring in demons, surviving celebrities, and even the funniest exorcism scene in film, the possibilities are endless with ridiculous jokes throughout.
Though with the constant laughs, it sometimes makes the dramatic moments a little dry, it's a small flaw in an amazing picture. I thoroughly enjoyed watching this, and never laughed more in a theater this year. So I do hope this isn't the end for this cast together.
