Real life princesses aren't lovely, graceful beings, the kind that wander the earth touched by an air of delicate innocence, a vulnerability matched only with their persistence to do good.
They are in fact loud, spoilt, touched with an air of I-know-what-is-best, answerable to none, brash when asked a question, and angry when they can't find an answer.
But one thing the authors of children's books did get right; princesses are never the heroes of the story.
They are always the victims of circumstance, never in control, easily disillusioned, without objective and nearly suicidal.
They are easy to identify because they never fight the battle they are presented with.
No, princesses are never the heroes and never will be.
For where exists beauty, there must exist a certain measure of ugliness. Where a person may strive, another will find a way to complain.
Such is the case with opposites. To learn to love, you must learn to hate.
The question is what do you want to do?
Do you want to turn the world upside down, shake it with everything you have, explore every corner, every crevice so you can find and savour every last drop of goodness or do you want to settle for equal amounts of love and hate?
For to go beyond logic takes something more than intelligence, more than imagination, more than just good intentions. It takes an entire lifetime which few are willing to sacrifice.
Most people would rather not live at all rather than live and die. Most people would be princesses, still.
