I grew up with Chez Panisse posters hung all around my grandmother’s kitchen. Punctuating the hanging copper and red gingham that clothed the windows, they hung there, watching as I clanked and slurped and waded my way through cereal bowls that stretched an entire childhood. Countless times I’ve mulled over my breakfast and contemplated those posters, traced the words that were so familiar: “Le Matin”...”cafe & croissant”... ”Chez Panisse...” “One day I’ll go there.” Fast forward 10 years and there I was brimming with excitement and taking my first steps through the front doors of Chez Panisse when I saw what was hanging on THEIR walls. Without realizing what they were, I was stopped in my tracks: they were framed posters of the film adaptations of Marcel Pagnol’s novels. The very same movies I’d laugh and cry through with my grandmother until they were all but memorized, only tucked deep down in a corner of my memory that I rarely visit anymore. Traveling from poster to poster, scenes flitted behind my eyes and soundtracks played in my ears and I knew immediately that I was having one of those moments that you think people only have in movies. The thing is, when you finally experience one in real life, it’s not melodramatically maudlin or sepia-toned or anything; it just feels right. It feels like you’re right where you’re supposed to be. And it feels like home. #food #foodie #foodiepic #foodiegram #foodblog #foodporn #foodlover #foodpic #instafood #instafoodie #foodstyling #instagood #insta #instagram #instagramhub #foodblogger #foodphotography #comfortfood #foodstagram #foodies #noms #delicious #cooking #nyceats #foodpics #homecooking #food52 #bonappetit #buzzfeast #toogoodforcompany
