They say that words have power. Now, if you’ve ever really stopped to think about it, you know how true that is. We have thousands upon thousands of thoughts every day and what we do with those thoughts is up to us.
That’s right— you can control your thoughts, after all it IS your brain. Some people are very susceptible to becoming a victim of their emotions, but the trick is that your thoughts are creating these feelings.
The interesting thing about affirmations is that they work both ways— negatively and positively. So, think about that. Every thought you have, the things you say, the way you talk about yourself is an affirmation, for better or worse.
Now, the key to this is not only actually saying positive affirmations, but also becoming aware about the thoughts you have and watching what you say. Are these things negative or positive? When you start paying attention, you may be shocked at how many nasty thoughts and words creep into your day. Don’t feel bad, just notice these thoughts and change them! One of the best ways to break the pattern is to have a couple of positive affirmations on deck so that when you do catch a negative moment, you just swap it out for something positive.
